Egyptian Anesthesia 2010
Egyptian Anesthesia 2010 (the 26th Annual Conference of the Egyptian Society of Anesthesiologists) is the must attend educational event of 2010 to all anesthesiologists and allied health professionals.
The EgSA Annual Meeting is unique as it brings together anesthesiologists
and allied health professionals for continuing medical education and professional networking.
Anesthesia Conference
A conference will be held in Bar Harbor, Maine 04609, United States from 1 to 5 August 2009. Describe new and therapeutic advances in pulmonary disease. Identify new diagnostic and therapeutic advances in critical care medicine. Better evaluate and manage patients with significant advanced lung disease.

Optimizing Epidural Fentanyl Loading Dose for Early Labor Pain
Continuous epidural infusion of local anesthetics
and opioids is widely used in clinical practice to
relieve labor pain.1,2 The combination of local anesthetics
with fentanyl allows for lower doses of
both drugs, while maintaining adequate analgesia.3,4
Chestnut et al reported that continuous epidural
infusion of 0.0625% bupivacaine plus 0.0002% fentanyl
(2 μg/mL) at a rate of 12.5 mL/hr produced
analgesia similar to that provided by epidural infusion
of 0.125% bupivacaine alone with less intense
motor block.5 Labor pain has two components,
visceral and somatic pain. During early-stage labor,
the visceral pain associated with uterine contraction
and cervical dilation usually requires analgesic
coverage to contain T10 to L1 dermatomes.
Although previous studies reported that the combination
of a low-concentration local anesthetic
with different doses of fentanyl provides good
epidural analgesia,6,7 no study has yet evaluated
the analgesic effect of different epidural fentanyl
doses on the dermatomic level during early labor.
The aim of this study was to examine whether increasing
the loading dose of epidural fentanyl
(4 μg/mL) could yield analgesia that covers more
dermatomes and provide better analgesia for visceral
pain during early labor.
Happy new Year
2010 is now running its way. We hope good and happy year for you.
Methods of Anesthesia
The choice of a particular anesthetic technique is normally a decision made by the anesthesiologist, taking into account the type of surgery and the condition of the patient, as well as the needs and preferences of both the patient and the surgeon.
What is an Anesthesiologist?
An anesthesiologist is a medical doctor, who by virtue of training and experience, has gone into the care of patients undergoing surgery." Doctor Dinner, Anesthesiologist of New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center, explains jut what an anesthesiologist is and delves into the many subspecialties within the framework of the anesthesiologist. He is taking in the attached video about this.
Toxicity, Local Anesthetics
The need to perform painful procedures in the emergency department (ED) makes the use of local and infiltration anesthesia necessary components of patient care. While generally safe, anesthetic agents can be toxic if used in inappropriate doses or route. Even when properly administered, patients may experience unintended reactions to local anesthetics. The manifestations of toxicity associated with local anesthetic agents used in the ED and treatment strategies are discussed in this article.
